Director of Youth Ministries
Alex English
Alex was born and raised in the Charlotte area. He studied Religion at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia and received his Master of Theological Studies at Duke Divinity School. Before coming to St. Mark’s he spent four years in Goldston, NC as the Youth Minister of Goldston United Methodist Church. Alex has been married to Erin since 2008.
His job is to ensure the well-being of the youth ministry of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church. He is responsible for our middle school and high school-aged students, including overseeing the High School Sunday School class, planning our youth group meetings, leading retreats, and leading our groups in mission work in our community and out-of-state. He also assists the leadership of our children’s ministry.

Youth Committee
Our Youth Committee has the privilege of seeking God’s will regarding the overall direction of the youth ministry of St. Mark’s. We are made up of adults (including parents!) who are committed to the Christian faith formation of our youth. We seek to provide the very best curriculum so that, alongside adults who care about them, youth can talk about, think about, and practice what it means to be a Christian. The Youth Committee also wishes for our youth to explore their vocations as followers of Christ through mission-oriented activities, both in the Charlotte area and outside of North Carolina. Our number one goal is to provide a welcoming environment for youth where they can share Christ with one another and in turn learn to share Christ with all of their neighbors.
