What we do
We provide a loving, nurturing, Christian environment where children will learn or expand their knowledge of the German language and experience the German culture through speech, play, music and art. Children of all nationalities and age 1 through 5 are welcome.
Our tiny little ones (age 1-2) experience the German language in our group “Glühwürmchen”. We expose them to German songs, rhymes and play. First words and sentences pop out in German!
The group “Würmchen” (age 2-3) focuses on deepening the knowledge of German vocabulary. Children start to actively sing along, exchange words and follow conversations in German.
In our group “Schmetterlinge” (age 3-5) we promote the active use of the German language. Children are encouraged to speak German while playing, doing crafts, singing and reading.
To homeschooling families we offer an hour of intensive German study in two different age groups. Our teachers are German natives who will be able to give a well rounded picture of language, country and culture while taking into account each childs individual need.
While children are participating in their groups, parents who are interested have the opportunity to join other parents in an informal get-together with refreshments and conversational topics in German.
Those parents who are interested in a more serious study of the German language may do so with our German teacher (a small fee will apply).
Who we are
We are a team of German mothers who have lived in the United States for many years. Our professional backgrounds and long years of experience in raising children as well as leading child development groups led to the decision to start the “Deutscher Kindertreff Charlotte”.
We are dedicated to help families of all nationalities with ties to Germany to preserve their ancestor’s heritage as well as support those who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the German language and culture.
