Called and Freed to Live!

When the tables are turned and it’s we who want the mercy, we’re going to be glad – no, not glad, ecstatic! – that God chooses to show mercy on those we think deserve it the least. And that fact frees us to find life in our living.

Pushed and Shoved by the Spirit

Do you live your life like you know you received the Holy Spirit? Are you paying attention to the ways you feel the force of the Holy Spirit moving and shaking you, pushing and shoving you? To the ways the Spirit would have you break out of your comfort zone? Are you listening for the voice of God that claims you as a beloved child and then calls you to live into that identity in the world? Are you praying for God to help you figure out where the Spirit would move you?

Knowing What We’re Not

Christmas is the time when we point as hard as we can to the true light coming into the world. With our witness and God’s help, we pray that one day the whole world will see it.

God is coming

We desperately seek a way out of what life brings, we desperately want someone to show us the way

Surprise!

But the one who is to come is also the one who has already come.
And for that reason – for that element of surprise—Advent is a season of hope.

The Motivating Factor

What if the motivating factor was not fear, but love? What if the sheep already knew of God’s love for them and the goats simply didn’t get it?

Love the Lord your God with all that you have. Love your neighbors and everyone you encounter, and love yourself.

Rendering to God

After all that God has given us, surely we have much to render to God

Whose Vineyard Is This, Anyway?

This is not our world, it is God’s. This is not our church, it’s God’s

Promise or Practice

Are my promises greater than my practices? Does my faith have follow-through?
